Anyway it’s exam week(s) at the moment but then immediately after my paper, I’m flying off for a family holiday. The day I come back will be the day that PJ flies to Korea for 3 weeks T.T That means we won’t meet for five weeks? Is it very clingy if I say that it feels v long?? HAHA. I feel like it’s not a holiday if I don’t go over to nua in PJ’s house yknw 😦 Hope we still have time to do that when she comes back!
Because of the clashing schedules, we decided to meet today for dinner. I happened to be driving to school before dinner because I had things to do in school. So I decided to take a leap of faith and ask my dad if I could drive out for dinner with them. AND DUM DUM DUMMM because of my experience with dealing w my parents, I knew the correct formula with which to structure my request… REQUEST APPROVED WOOHOOOOO. So this dinner marks the first time I’ve driven out for dinner w my friends!!
We went to Lola’s for dinner because we all haven’t had it for the longest time. I cannot emphasise how value-for-money is rly. We paid $14 each for duck confit, chicken wings and pasta. (Obviously not blogger material because once the food came, we only took the effort to Snapchat it and then we gobbled it up hehe). Oh yeah! Lola’s expanded their restuarant space so now they’re twice as big YAY. Yay to shorter waiting time rly – they told us expected waiting time would be an hour but we only waited for 20 mins or so.
After that we kinda got their message that we should vacate our seats because people were still waiting for a table (maybe that’s why the waiting time was so short also) so we quickly paid the bill and went back to the car (!! I get a little thrill from saying that hehe. 22 year olds us wow). Head to MacDonald’s at AMK where we shared a McNuggets meal (because it’s not Singapore if we’re not eating) along with our memories of the past, our hopes for the future and our lives at present 🙂
I really really am so comfortable with these two people. So thankful to have met ST online (lol), PJ in JC and to have them in my life even till now. It’s like the three of us just fit together and it’s amazing how I am close to both of them as individuals and we’re all close as a group as well. Love yall so so much tq for being my best friends and being my first passengers to be driven out for dinner by me!!
Today was rly such a happy day!! Met so many lovely people in school (both by coincidence and by choice) and it rly made my day. So I decided that I have to record this momentous occasion down in my blog hehe
Came to school for ethics class w Agnes so that’s one lovely person I’ve met today already. Plus we formed our presentation groups in class today and the group looks like q nice so I’m quite hopeful! But it’s only for one short 10-min presentation so that’s okay w me. After class I arranged to meet Marcus at the deck because he has a break then as well. Also arranged to meet ST because he also has a break. See, the nice thing about your friends knowing (and willing to make friends with) each other is that you can hang out w all of them at the same time ^^
So when Marcus arrived at the deck… DUM DUM DUM WHO WOULD APPEAR BUT SELENE!! Omg my heart soared hehehe. Not that I haven’t met her la but we haven’t met together as a group at all??? SO IT FELT V NICE AND RLY LIKE REUNION YKNW. Then Ming Ming texted me saying that she’s in school as well so I was like OMG YOU HAVE TO COME TO THE DECK IT IS WHERE ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE HANGING OUT YKNW. And ofc she came. So now at the deck you have me, Selene, Marcus, Agnes, Ming and ST. Was quite concerned that Agnes would feel left out but I think it was okay…??
ST left to go to the central forum for awhile but then I realised that eh he’s been gone for some time?? So I messaged him to ask where he disappeared to. And the sneaky child was hanging out w Meiyi and Ruth (aka daisy dux) at the AS1/7 walkway!! So I had to go there right. Went there and we sat at the bench for a bit hoping to collect more 08 kids. AND DUM DUM who would walk past but Jianyi!! Collected him onto the bench and we were v happy. AND THEN!! Jefferson appeared WOW. Talk about fate?? (Or the walkway la because EVERYONE walks past there, it’s a bit difficult to not meet someone you know along the walkway honestly). So we took a proof photo of our reunion:
After awhile we dispersed because some people had to go for class and I had to go back to the deck where I left Ming and Marcus oops. But the both of them rly get along like a house on fire so that’s great hehe.
When Marcus, Ming and I decided to leave the deck, dum dum dum I MET PJ AND SUSU AND CORRYNE!!!! Wa super happy hahaha haven’t seen PJ for so long?? Okay not rly hahaha but it’s always good to see PJ yknw 🙂 And susu ofc! And Corryne the triathlon-er cooliozzzz. So I rly MOOD UP already heh.
Then as we walked back along the walkway, I met Melissa Lee!! Haven’t seen her since school started omg SO HAPPY TO BUMP INTO HER HEHE. Because so far we’ve only been in inconsistent (mainly because of my lousy replying habits) contact on LINE and idk, it doesn’t rly feel the same messaging her vs talking to her face to face?? But yayy rly v happy to meet her again! ^^v Also v glad that she settled her issues with modules this semester because she seemed to be having a fair bit of trouble D:
Headed to the bus stop w Marcus who decided to skip class (heh) then I took a bus to BV MRT to go to Changi to send Manda off 😦 She’s v brave eh imo, going to New Zealand all by herself for the work/play thing. I would never dare to do that I think… At least exchange was still me being free in a kinda restricted setting? But she’s rly like a free bird there, can do anything she wants omg. Quite cool but at the same time quite unfathomable to me.
Met my mum for dinner at a Japanese restaurant after that because my mum felt like eating somewhere fancy hahaha. GLAD I CAUGHT HER IN THAT KIND OF MOOD?? Even though I was feeling quite like having soup from Saybons. But okay who’s gna complain at the upgrade right. NOT ME.
OH I must mention!! On the way to the airport when I was in the train (I got a seat!) Huixin and I were online at the same time on Whatsapp!! So we actually had a moment where we were replying each other instantaneously. It was quite exciting because usually we take days to reply each other HAHA. She said, and I quote, it felt a bit like the good old MSN days hehe. But after awhile it got quite taxing to type so quickly on my laggy Xiaomi phone (because my phone is still w the LG service centre sigh. Long story that one). In any case!! I’m meeting her, Marcus and Selene on Saturday night I think, to go see the Singapore Night Festival together yippee! Excited about that, even though I know it’s gna be mad crowded and I’ll be so gross and sticky and grouchy w the crowd. At least I’ll be in company I enjoy and am rly happy in 😀
So all in all, it’s been a really happy day for me. Hope your Tuesdays were good too 😀
It was my first time spending New Year’s Eve / a countdown to the new year not at home! And for a good reason – BIG BANGGGGG.
2014 has been such an incredibly good year in terms of my pursuit of happiness in the world of Kpop – two concerts and even visiting Korea. And now I feel like I started 2015 on the right note 😀 Celebrate SG50’s was advertised as as multi-artist mega event with both local and international stars. And no prizes for guessing who I went for the countdown for!! I’m guessing that Big Bang was the draw for at least half of the people present that night. Not that I’m discounting the draw factor of Kit Chan, Stefani Sun and Dick Lee. Oh and the 8 Dukes of Mediacorp (omg hahaha).
I watched Pinocchio w Shaun before meeting PJ to go to City Hall together. Pinocchio is so good btw. EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH IT. Unfortunately due to various reasons I’m only at episode 9 zz. Met PJ at City Hall and the both of us were starving because we didn’t eat much that day. So we went to Osaka Ohsho at Raffles City for dinner while waiting for mei, her friend and Melissa! So incredibly full after that. Ramen + gyoza omo. I love their gyoza tho! I think it’s one of the yummiest gyozas I’ve tried. And I don’t really like gyoza! Yippee. But a bit sick of it because they give like six. A bit too much for me.
Met up w Melissa and my sis and her friend and off we went to The Float. Follow the crowd – that’s the way when you don’t know how to get to the place hahaha. It was horrendous the queue D: We started queueing at around 8pm and only got seated at around 9pm. And since we got there so late… we found seats that were q far behind sigh D: D: Some of the seats were really quite good!! If only we were there earlier
Took our seats and sat there for AGES watching the other performers. Okay some were q interesting like the Dim Sum Dollies and the actors from the Noose. But some of them… no idea who they were omg. I should try to be more supportive of local talent. Oh but the view of the Singapore river was really pretty!! With the Artscience museum and the Helix bridge in the background. So mega pretty!!
Actually right, if you think about it, MBS has only been around since 2011. Which is only about 3-4 years since its existence. And already we’re all so used to it already and it’s been totally integrated (lol geddit) into the Singapore skyline. It’s hard to imagine the Marina Bay area without it don’t you think? Maybe that’s why Singaporeans are so high on the acceptance of change index. Food for thought.
As it got closer to midnight, Dick Lee and Kit Chan sang Home!! Omg it was mega cool. I felt like it was national day HAHA. It was really quite like a national day celebration masquerading as a new year’s countdown tsk. But Home was so nice! And touching. And sing along-y. I loved it!
Then we counted down.
Then there were fireworks. The fireworks were INCREDIBLE. Omg I’ve never seen fireworks so close up. I think they’re really way way more spectacular in real life. Or was it extra special because it was SG50? Either way, I’m so glad I saw this in real life rather than on TV. The fireworks just kept coming man.
SO AFTER THE FIREWORKS CAME THE PERFORMANCE THAT EVERYONE WAS WAITING FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or so you’d think right.
LOL NO TROLL. Some other people came out to perform and UP TILL TODAY I HAVE NO IDEA WHO IT WAS. AND it was really quite a let down because quite unfortunately the person who started the first performance of 2015 … was not a great singer. Omg I feel so mean BUT IT’S TRUE. After watching the amazing fireworks, we’d expect the high generated by the fireworks to continue right. But it didn’t. It was quite amusing how everyone immediately sat down once they heard that it wasn’t Big Bang.
DUM DUM DUM DUMMMMM BIG BANG IS BACK. Opened with Fantastic Baby of course. WHAT ELSE WOULD THEY OPEN WITH.
The performance was really really good AS ALWAYS. When does Big Bang ever disappoint me right!! I enjoyed it so thoroughly. Especially since they were singing the old songs like Haru Haru, Lies and Last Farewell. SO MUCH LOVE FOR THOSE THREE SONGS. It’s the Big Bang that I fell in love with I think. Such fun, fun songs.
I kept moving upwards to get a better view hahaha. It was q funny because I felt a bit like I was trying to elevate to higher grounds to escape from rising waters or something. BUT IT WAS SO WORTH. SO SO WORTH. I really love going for Kpop concerts ^^
Photos of Big Bang too pixelated because as you can tell, I would have had to zoom a fair bit to get a photo of them oh well.
The concert was over far far too quickly D: The worst thing was that Taeyang TOTALLY looked like he wanted to say something / perform another song BUT THE EMCEES WERE HOGGING THE MIC OMG I DIED URGH HOW CAN THEY T.T Oh and Taeyang didn’t perform Eyes, Nose, Lips. Mega disappointment but at least they performed Good Boy. I didn’t like the song at first but… as always it has grown on me. It’s so cute the dance SO CUTE.
Got home and then my siblings and I did something rebellious to celebrate the new year hahaha oops. But it was fun and we were safe so that’s what matters right 😉
Finally blogging about my 21st birthday because like since I blogged about my previous birthdays, I definitely have to blog about my 21st right? After all it’s like only the most celebrated years. The next year that will experience such hype is like.. my 60th?? HAHAHA. I wonder what the world will be like when I’m 60. Interesting.
I toyed with the idea of having a 21st birthday party for the LONGEST time. On one hand I wanted one because like wow so fun seeing all my friends together on my birthday. But on the other hand so many reasons to NOT have one. Like I’d be way too stressed during it, I’d be worried that my friends were not having fun, I’ve too many friends who don’t belong to a big group so they would be lonely, Melissa’s birthday is on the same day, etc etc. So I decided not to have a birthday thing.
Couldn’t celebrate w Melissa on the actual day this year because she was having a BBQ with her family so we settled on celebrating earlier. I love birthday celebrations with Melissa 😀 So glad we’re still friends and celebrating our birthdays together. I think it’s our umm 3rd time celebrating together? Yippee! We went on a food fest this year HAHA. Skipped out on Max Brenner. Breaking traditions the both of us!
Went to Manbok Korean BBQ where we discovered a great new place for Korean BBQ omg the lunch was only S$15 NETT!! All-you-can-eat style buffet yums. They even had a little pot at the side where you can do a steamboat or army stew if you wish. We ofc did the army stew. It’s amazing what two girls can eat when they set their minds to it hehe. The selection of meats was quite limited tho. But still really yummy. I think the marinated chicken breast was quite good! And the bacon. Omg we spammed the bacon hahaha so good!! Love Korean bbq sigh. We ate until we couldn’t move. So it was time to move to our next stop!!
We were headed to Lady M at Marina Square. Passed by Llao Llao and it wasn’t that long a queue! So we were like OKAY let’s see what the hype is all about. So we ordered a Sanum to share and we were… disappointed. Like omg so THIS is what the hype is over?!? WHAT is this?!?! So unimpressed and disappointed at all the people who made us BUY it even tho we were still so full LOL. We just kept complaining the whole time we were eating it hahaha omg so Singaporean. It’s not that it tasted bad. I’ve gotta admit that it’s kinda yummy. It’s just that it’s not really so mindblowing to inspire such long snaking queues. /smh.
After that we walked to Marina Square and walked around for a bit because we were way too full. BUT that’s not going to deter us from our original goal!! LADY M! Woohoo crepe cake.
But yknw what was almost as good as the cake.
THE ICE WATER THEY SERVED OMG. Idk how to describe it. Idk why it was so good. Is it like expensive places even have good tasting water?? IDK. Hahahaha but really omg the ice water was so refreshing. It’s not even like we were v hot. I mean like we had Llao Llao earlier plus we were walking around in an air-conditioned mall. But the ice water was SO TASTY HAHA HOW??? WHAT SORCERY. CAN I DRINK IT EVERYDAY?!?! We got a refill ofc. Melissa even gave me some of hers HAHAHA. Thanks lady M.
Okay that’s all for this post haha. Next update shall be on the actual day’s very happening happenings.
Where do I even beginning writing about this fantastic once-in-a-lifetime experience? I remember casually saying that I would love to go for a YG Family concert a while before they announced that they were coming to Singapore. I’ve heard so much about how YG concerts are incredible for their fee~ling and I already had a taste of it during the F1 concert when Big Bang performed last year. So when I heard that they would be coming to Singapore all together, it wasn’t even a should I go but WHEN ARE THE TICKETS COMING OUT. Hahaha.
Gna skip the whole ticket buying process and go straight to the concert because it’s been so long. Also because it’s been so long, I’m just going to blog about the concert by feel. As I always do heh.
Quite simply, the concert was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to overall. Not that I’ve had a lot to choose from (SNSD, F1, EXO only, so embarrassing haha). But I honestly enjoyed this concert so so incredibly much. It’s kinda different I guess, after all, this is a multi-artiste concert whereas I’ve mostly been to concerts held by a single idol group.
Attended this concert w my Kpop fanily (who has been quite dormant lately… all too busy with our lives sigh) and my sister because even she didn’t want to miss out on the rare opportunity. Unfortunately our seats weren’t that good sigh. I was at about the same place as I was for EXO’s concert (read: far away) but nearer to the centre. The catch was that our seats were the highest up omg CREYS. But as I later realised, being higher up meant that I could really jump around and fangirl to my heart’s content.
The bunch of us met for dinner then headed to the stadium. This time I was like OKAY GUYS I GOT THIS. After all, I was there less than a month ago for EXO hehe. So I wasn’t as confused as before! Found our seats quite quickly (+ disappointed slightly because we were so high up and right in front of one of the lights meh) and settled down. Choonz even brought her lightstick from Big Bang’s concert!! Omg we so inadequate. HOW COULD WE GO EMPTY HANDED!!!
Okay on to the concert.
TBH I think the absolute BEST thing about a concert like this is the collaboration stages. After all, we kinda get to see them performing their own songs with a way way better view from the comfort of our homes on YouTube. But the collaborations stages… FANCAMS ARE NOT ENOUGH MAN.
CL and GD covered CL’s solos – The Baddest Female and MTBD omg SO FABULOUS. The both of them are really so so incredibly cool that it’s unreal. Plus having the lyrics changed to suit GD since he’s the baddest male hahaha I LOVED IT.
Daesung and Seungyoon’s cover of 2ne1’s Ugly was one of the most hilarious pieces of the night. Partly because they changed the lyrics from “I wanna be pretty” to “I wanna be rockstar” omg PLS GUYS NO JUST NO HAHAHAHA SO HILARIOUS REALLY. Plus they were really dressed in rockstar-ish clothes – yknw, the shirt w the tongue sticking out. Quintessential rockstar t-shirt. I loved the energy of the song + the hilarity, it made for a great great time.
The performance that really took the cake was Big Bang performing 2NE1’s I Love You, complete with scarves and all. SO unexpected and awesome and fabulous AND ALL THE WORDS I CANNOT DESCRIBE IT. I miss boy idol groups covering girl groups songs so much. I remember there was a period where they kept covering girl group songs. But Big Bang is so way past that stage and into the cool stage that I really didn’t expect them to be so goofy and CUTE about it omg ILY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BRINGING SUCH JOY AND AMUSEMENT.
I was thoroughly thoroughly entertained throughout the concert. Even during Epik High and PSY’s segments!! Not that I don’t like them. More like I don’t listen to any songs by them but after that night I immediately went to Google the songs they sang hahaha.
PSY in particular was a great performer. He was so down-to-earth and made conversation with the audience (ikr, how it is possible to make conversation in a concert w hundreds of people, but he did. You just have to take my word for it). He was so engaging and made sure that the audience were on their feet (literally, like he MADE everyone stand haha) during his performance. Plus the English subtitles for his songs were supremely helpful. I liked that his songs were meaningful and that he tried hard to engage the audience despite our language barrier and his understanding that the audience likely only knew three of his songs (honest. He said it himself). I think of all the performances, his was one I probably will remember for a long time because of how he engaged the audience. I’ve really never experienced something like that. I really felt his sincerity. Even while I doubted him saying that the Sunday audience was better than Saturday’s -.-
I think I screamed the loudest when WINNER came out. I was really proud of them, of how far they had come since their WIN days. I’m so glad they won and that they got to debut and were even performing in Singapore!! It was really like a dream come true (for me. just to clarify. hahaha). I couldn’t believe that the boys I watched practising so hard on WIN were now in front of me onstage in Singapore!! Amazing. And so so happy for and proud of them.Really hope they continue to do well and that YG will continue giving them opportunities to shine because I find them so talented. It would be a waste to send them back into the training room and focus on iKon (whom I now love as well. Sigh. The carousel will never be full). Even ST agreed!! He really liked Just Another Boy hoho.
Shouldn’t be biased and leave out the 2ne1 girls who are really omg the QUEENS. I used to like Minzy the least when they first debuted but I think now she’s really matured a lot. She’s improved so much in terms of her vocals and her confidence + dance skills are quite quite amazing. 2ne1’s another group I’ve liked since their debut with Fire (unless Lollipop is counted) and it’s really cool to see how they’ve changed since their debut. They’ve become so cool and like whoa untouchable. Yet we have Dara who’s so cute and 4D aww. I really admire CL’s confidence too. It’s hard to believe that she’s only 23 this year. Where did all that style and fierceness come from?!
And Big Bang… I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY BUT THEY IMPRESS ME EVERYTIME OMG. Especially GD hahaha. Of course. To sum it up, I have one photo:
KIDDING HAHA. Seungri wasn’t able to make it for the Singapore leg of the tour because he had his (mysterious) accident just a few days before. Q sad about it mainly because I think Big Bang was kinda affected by his absence which makes me sad. Big Bang is best as five I think. Nonetheless, their performances were great 🙂 Especially GD omg. There’s something about him that makes him so enjoyable to watch and just… omg FALL IN LOVE WITH. Like CL, there’s this untouchable aura about him when he performs, like he’s too cool for you, for me, for the WORLD. But then when he smiles, I think it could light up 100 lightbulbs. His smile is so cute omg like with a tinge of shyness. It’s like a different person from when he’s performing – GD vs Jiyong. Sigh.
Case in point:
Anyway, from our seats… we got great views of the screen. HAHA. But the atmosphere was electrifying for the lack of a better word. I was jumping up and down for most of the concerts. Had to stop and rest for awhile. And take breaks to drink water to make sure I can still continue screaming and singing along. It was basically a huge karaoke fest for me. And releasing all my pent up fangirl-ing feels from only watching them on my laptop screen. It was a great great night.
Oops LQ photo because I was still using Butter then and Butter cannot handle the zoom it had to go through since we were so high up lol.
I had so much fun during the concert. And I guess that’s what concerts are about right. Having fun, watching your idols irl (and not having your heartbreak because they’re so near yet so far cf EXO).
Will def go for the next YG Family concert if they come to Singapore again 😀 Pls bring iKon and Akdong Musician w you pls pls pls.
Looking back, I realise that I had a rather eventful Week 12. Presenting some highlights of my week in photos. Clearly I’ve come to regret my having fun in the mad rush of things sigh.
Had an author’s visit from Suchen Christine Lim during SSA lecture this week. Must confess that I haven’t read her novel oops. But she’s really nice and v cute. Plus she’s Cantonese (and v proud of it) woohoo.
Had Hwangsies for lunch w my beloved birthday fairies. One hour w them is better than none at all! Glad to hear from Jianyi and my beloved PJDJ both of whom I haven’t seen irl for ages. Love you guys 🙂
Popo had her bypass surgery last Thursday. Aside from a scare on Thursday night and a number of slightly abnormal incidents of her heart rate going terribly high, she’s becoming the popo I know again! The one who complains a lot, makes me laugh, agrees w me when I say I’m pretty, etc etc heh. 🙂
Auntie Kim’s for dinner! I rly love (some) types of Korean food haha. We had the seafood pancake as well which is rly a MUST ORDER when you eat at Auntie Kim’s. Too excited to eat that so I forgot to take a picture. But here’s chicken soup + bibimbap to make you hungry.
Took a picture w sissy while waiting for the food. But the lighting was so orangey so here’s a B&W photo instead. Aside from our eyes… I really think we look rather alike here.
Thursday – Happy birthday Corrine!
Oops using this photo again! Hahaha but since I’m documenting my week in pictures, might as well have this here right? Matchy tops w Ming by coincidence!
Went to Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King at Orchid Hotel (Tanjong Pagar) for dinner. THE SOUP WAS SO SO DELICIOUS O M G. It wins. Really. I don’t remember if I’ve had ramen w soup nicer than this. The first time I tasted the soup… it was like this incredible rush of sensory delight. The ingredients itself weren’t that fancy because I was feeling poor and only had chashu to go with my ramen. But there’s free flow hard boiled eggs and marinated beansprouts!
Then we had Cake Spade for dessert even though we were stuffed. Because you can’t celebrate a birthday without cake right?! We ordered the Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake (which is really a fancier way of calling the Strawberry Jelly Hearts imo) and Speculoos Chocolate Crumble. Both were yummy because the former’s lighter on the palette while the latter’s really rich and delicious too.
Then Friday was matchy denim shorts day w Mel and Corrine 🙂 Photo taken by Sam. It was rly funny because we initially asked him to only take a photo of us waist down BUT him being a guy and us being girls… you can imagine that it felt pretty awkz. Hahaha so we decided to just take a normal photo instead.
Rly can’t stand the state of my fringe oh gosh but I can’t decide whether I want to let it go out or cut it hmm.
Okay time to start on reflection paper hope I actually write something this time D:
This meet up was kindaaa to celebrate Joisy’s birthday I think but it wasn’t stated super explicitly so it was like just a normal gathering which we haven’t had for SO LONG.
Before that ST, PJ, Jian Yi and I met up on 22 June (I think) to do up Joisy’s birthday gift! Now we named ourselves Birthday fairies since it’s like the second/third time we’re planning something together for someone’s birthday heh. All thanks to Jian Yi really. He takes so much initiative and effort into sustaining friendships :’)
This was what we made for Joisy:
It was so fun doing it together at Coffee Bean on a Sunday afternoon. Jianyi was hilarious also – because initially we were all talking about how we had ZERO artistic capabilities so it probably wasn’t going to turn out very well. So Jianyi said that anything that didn’t look perfect is termed as “organic” HAHA. What a way to put it.
We rewarded ourselves w Four Fingers after that. I think I’ve had it so often that I’m a bit sick of it already :X Which is good I guess! The chicken wings and drumlets are really super addictive tho and easy to eat (with four fingers).
Okay back to the 08 gathering:
I was SO HAPPY to see everyone and hang out w everyone again and NINE PEOPLE TURNED UP!! That’s like half of our active classmates. Just occurred to me that the rest can be termed as inactive (woohoo Kpop references abound ^^) Sad that PJ couldn’t come becos she’s in Korea. But the wonders that is Snapchat ensured that she got to see everyone’s faces teehee in short-lived moments that I’m sure were the happiest few seconds of her night.
Met them after work outside Soup Spoon at Plaza Sing. I was really really hoping not to eat at Soup Spoon because it’s a bitttt sad (to me at least), having a meet up at Soup Spoon. Okay and truth be told, I didn’t wna eat soup for dinner either. So we drifted around for a bit and were heading to Astons at Cathay when we saw that NamNam was empty!! And so began my first time at NamNam. TBH I’m not sure why it’s so popular? I think the Vietnamese food at Orchard Towers is just as yummy. And cheaper! Tsk all these chain stores. And i guess I’m just not as into Vietnamese food – after all, this year was my first year eating Vietnamese food possibly in my entire life. I’m just not v adventurous with food/ quite a picky eater.
Halfway through ordering I received a message from Amanda Kee saying to call a number ASAP because someone from the company we worked with for Pitch It was looking for me quite urgently. I mistakenly thought it was the photographer so I called the number. AND SIGH what a bad decision / IT WAS A SCAM. Turned out to the usual guy we had to deal with from the company and he isn’t the best person to deal with. I find him a bit weasely and not a v nice person. Like a typical 9-5 office worker who’s a bootlicker and steps on those who are under him. Okay I guess my opinion of him is a bit biased but I didn’t have a good experience working w him that’s all. Anyway he made me call to DEMAND things that I had no idea was happening. But it was my fault I have to admit. There was an issue that cropped up with regard to Pitch It and an unhappy (and small-minded IMO) student who liaised with one of the teams. He involved the two companies we worked with and the whole thing was just quite poorly managed. I thought the matter was resolved though, because I haven’t heard a peep from either the team or the troublemaker. But nooooo. Apparently he’s been CALLING UP the boss of the guy we worked with. Shameless or what?! He’s just a small fry, a slightly dissatisfied consumer who got his pride pricked. I was supposed to call him up and try to smoothen things over but I was procrastinating because I thought the matter blew over. In typical Pui San fashion, I was trying to do the ostrich thing and pretend that if I don’t see or deal with it, it doesn’t exist. But… clearly no. So I had to soothe the weasely guy’s ruffled feathers. Which made me feel v uptight and upset which is SO not the emotions I should be feeling on a night out w my beloved 08 T.T
Thankfully Ming Ming and Manda were there at NamNam as well – such a coincidence! It really helped that I got to rant to the both of them about it – made me feel SO much better talking it out with people who understood. :’) After the harrowing phone call, I tried to get back to the class gathering w happy spirits but it was quite difficult because I had to explain the problem to Amanda Kee (and Sam I think) so I felt q bad for neglecting my class a bit over dinner.
But I managed to push it to the back of my head after awhile so it was back to normal for me YAY. I ordered a sandwich from NamNam and it was rather nice. Better than ST’s noodles definitely hoho. Glad I decided to change my order last minute. After the dinner, we decided to go to Cold Stone Creamery for some ice cream. YAY TO ICE CREAM. Met Xihui and Dingkai and his girlfriend there gosh what a small world!! Ordered our ice cream which we enjoyed so much that we ordered another scoop. TEEHEE. Greedy people. We also watched them toss the ice cream around!! Was happy about that because I remember the first time I was there they didn’t do it 😦 The customers GENERALLY couldn’t catch it though so it was quite the waste.
After ice cream we wandered around Orchard Central for a bit until someone had the BRILLIANT idea to explore the rooftop. Underwhelming would be the apt word to describe it. Unimpressed = me. But as usual, EVERYTHING IS FUN W FRIENDS. So even though there was nothing at the rooftop garden, it was still fun wandering around and complaining about how there was nothing to see there HAHA. So Singaporean oh gosh.
Tried to take a couple of photos but the first photo was the best.
Today was supposed to be my free-ish kinda day! But it turned out quiteee not free haha but it’s okay I guess, it was a happy day today 😀
Started off my day waking up at a rather terrible hour of 8plus on a SUNDAY MORNING. NOOOOOO T.T It’s only an hour later than my usual weekdays sigh. But I think body alarm clock + was woken up by my sister who was getting ready to go out. It’s okay though, I nua-ed a bit then hopped outta ready to face the day AKA I sat in front of my Saffy in my PJs hahaha. IT’S A WEEKEND MAN cut me some slack. But then I got a text from my mum asking me to pick her up from the market so off I went to the market and back.
By then it was around 9? I was supposed to meet Isaac for breakfast to catch up and just chill ~ because we haven’t hung out for v long. Our initial meeting time was 9.47am! But then it got slightly pushed back because he was held up. And my mum said she would give me a lift to J8! So I wasn’t too worried about being late. PLUS the fact that I’m meeting Isaac at J8 meant that I didn’t have to worry about what I was wearing overmuch. Then at around 9.40am my mum popped her head outta her room door and said she just finished showering so she wouldn’t be able to give me a lift to J8 and she said… “Take the car” OMG I COULDNT BELIEVE MY GOOD LUCK. So that makes Isaac the first friend I drove to meet. Lucky him ^^ I was still late tho because I decided to 1. Not make an illegal turn and went a huge round in the car park to the available car lots and 2. Decided to park between two cars becos I wanted to walk a little less so I had to adjust my car multiple times -.-
Met the starving Isaac at Yakun and bought our kaya toast and shared kaya balls. Note to self: Don’t order it. It tastes a bit odd… probably becos the texture was so unexpected. I expected something more toast-like? But it was more like a pancake in the shape of a ball w kaya inside. A bit odd but we still ate it. Was super full after the meal! So we walked around a bit then decided to just nua at Mos burger w a drink. Sat there and we talked for like almost 2 hours or more I think. But it was so nice to talk to Isaac really. He doesn’t rly try to give advice so much like some of the friends I have who tries to give me advice w everything I say even tho I wasn’t seeking advice. Which is kinda nice but might get kinda annoying if it’s too often.
We talked about so many things and such varied topics. Caught up on each other’s lives, discussed various issues etc etc. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s rly easy to talk to Isaac. Sometimes when we meet, it’s me rambling on amd him giving encouraging answers. Other times we both contribute equally to the conversation. But it’s always comfortable to talk to him. Plus I think it helps that we’re both q honest w each other and I guess we know that we can trust each other w secrets. So yup q nice.
I had to go home at around 1pm so we parted ways at around that time. Went home and changed and immediately went to the function rooms at my house’s clubhouse because it’s my neighbour’s baby’s first month celebration woohoo. Big party they had. Kinda got me thinking about my own 21st party and if I should have one. So tempted to have it but then it’s so troublesome also 😦 what to do?? Should I have one?
Anyway the function started off q as per usual. Normally when my family and I come down for such events when my neighbour invites us, we will say hi, grab some food and keep to ourselves. But this time their first son came over to chat w us (FYI there are four kids, the first month celebration was for the first daughter’s daughter… confusing??) But anyway yeah we hardly have prolonged conversations w the first son (or with any of them actually) haha so it was kinda nice. He’s 22 years old so it was q easy to talk to him, no generation gap LOL. Then halfway through our conversation, his 12 year old sister came to ask if we wanted to play Uno with her and a friend. So in the spirit of good neighbourliness, I agreed.
And we played Uno for over 2h omg. I HAVE NEVER PLAYED UNO FOR SO LONG REALLY. Was honestly q bored by the time it was the last game becos the two younger kids kept running around spitting egg at each other -.- I just wanted to finish the game and go home!!! 😥 but it was q rude to leave midway through the game. Was so happy when someone finally said Uno Game. FAV WORDS OF THE DAY.
Went home and checked up on when we could catch Maleficient at Junction 8. I’ve been wanting to watch it for so long!! I’ve heard mixed reviews about it tho. Like ST and Ming Ming thought it was good but Hazel was disappointed and Ming’s friends didn’t enjoy it. So I decided that I should watch it to make my own decision.
Had dinner w mei and mum at Aijsen. Their ramen’s perfect if you’re craving something salty rly. And I love love love their hoji cha. HOW IS IT SO NICE??!!!
Shopped around J8 for about 15 mins then we went up to the theatre to watch the movie. Long story short: I liked it! Even tho there were gaping holes in the plot to me and some parts didn’t rly make complete sense and I’d have preferred if they expanded on some parts more, overall I quite enjoyed the movie. [SPOILER] They totally pulled a Frozen on us tho SIGH. Was hoping they wouldn’t be predictable like that but yup. Doesn’t matter tho. Happy ending so I’m okay!
Drove home and phew end of my long and tiring day ^^
Friday was ST & PJ’s bday and susu and I were lucky enough to be the chosen two to spend their birthdays w them ^^ out of their gazillion friends they chose to celebrate their birthdays w us leh! I rly felt q touched / lucky becos of that haha. I guess it might be not much to them… but to me it kinda signifies that we’re important enough to them? 😀
We were supposed to meet at 6.45pm at Novena but I finished work at 6.45pm… T.T Thursday and Friday were both q bad becos I had deadlines to meet and my colleague wasn’t free to go through the work I did until q late. So I had to wait for her. I was rly so tempted to run away and just leave her a note but then I didn’t want her to have a bad impression of me hahaha. I still had like 6 weeks of internship to go oops. So I waited for her. Luckily most of what I did was okay and I only needed her to clarify some questions I had and make minor edits before sending it off to the agency.
Rushed to Novena after that! Went to Cedele to buy cakes for the birthday two – red velvet amd a chocolate cake because ST loves whatever chocolate but PJ doesn’t like foods that are too sweet. I thought they were nua-ing at the Burger King at Novena Square but oops I misread the message and they were actually at the BK next to United Square. So off I sped walked to that BK. It feels soooo far away really T.T
Met up w susu and the birthday two then we had a mini celebration w cake and presents yayyy. Really mini celebration because only two slices of cake and no candle LOL. But they pretended very well, such good sports they are!! Then we bought cheese fries and a root beer float because I was starving.
Oh I forgot to mention. We were supposed to have Korean BBQ for dinner but they went there and the staff there said to go back at 8.30pm omg. Almost like a two hour wait?! So they adjourned to BK to wait it out. But that meant that our Korean bbq not so 划算 anymore because we weren’t super hungry 😦
Oh yes I must mention that PJ loved her presents (I think) YAY ^^ rly glad yhat she liked her presents becos I like them also HAHA. And the earrings rly vv pretty imo hoho. Good job ST and jianyi for buying it!! Must have been so difficult for the two of them, walking into Pandora clueless and relying on instructions via WhatsApp hahaha. Awesome stuff.
Sauntered over to the Korean BBQ place at around 8.30pm for our real dinner. Unfortunately by then I wasn’t v hungry after the cake and fries and float SIGHHH so wasted. So we ate a bit but omg in my memory of it… just rly not worth lor. WE NEED TO GO BACK AND EAT MORE WORTH NEXT TIME OKAY MY FRIENDS????? The bacon was yummy tho, I think I’m just really partial towards bacon.
Ate until we were quite quite stuffed but then again in the first place PJ was alr like… 20% full? SIGH. The thought of it ah rly damn wasted. Went to a nice wall outside Macs to take photos after that. Took turns to help each other take and yay such lovely photos. Took instax also! Anw my film expiring in July so must take more photos hahaha.
Really hope you had a good celebration w me and susu dearest ST and PJ! Love y’all so much, thanks for always bringing such joy to my life. For growing up with me, keeping me grounded, for cheering me up when I’m sad, for laughing and truly celebrating with me every time I achieve something. It’s really my greatest fortune to be able call the both of you my best friends. And I rly hope we’ll be celebrating your 31st, 41st, 51st, all the way till 101st birthday and more together. Love y’all sooooo much rly in case you haven’t figured it out teehee.
I was originally quite undecided about whether or not to go for Funtasia because… I’ve been back to NJ quite often this year and didn’t really feel like going again. But obviously I decided to go in the end haha. Partly becos ST’s going and partly becos I love going back to NJ – it’s always a different experience and I always get to see different people (except Rui, we always see him heh)
Second Funtasia I’ve been to! Went for the first one with Raroro and wow times have changed so much even though it’s been two years. TWO YEARS MY FRIENDS. Like raroro and my friendship has really changed a lot, not in a good/bad way, it just kinda evolved as we grew up (but not apart thankfully). I think raroro has changed quite a lot tbh, more than me! But the change has been so gradual, it didn’t even occur to me until I think back and reminisce.
Back to this Funtasia. Arranged to meet ST and hop into the bus and HE BROUGHT HIS NEW PHONE OUT TO PLAY FOR THE FIRST TIME YAYYYY. Was so excited because it was the first time I saw it woohoo. As huge as I expected. But nothing much la just another Android phone LOL OOPS. Just happy that ST can now join us on various SNS platforms like LINE yayyy 😀
Not surprising to say that we were late right? This rubber time concept we have really… IT’S SEEPING INTO MY WHOLE LIFE THIS IS SO BAD. I’m so often late now it feels like the norm. The watch I got kinda just serves to tell me how late I am rather than remind me not to be late sigh.
I kinda forgot the exact sequence of events already because this really took place quite some time ago. More than a month wow. So I’m gna be blogging by the moments as I remember them rather than true chronological order!
We were quite hungry when we got to school so we decided to head to the Raintree cafe (I really keep calling it the Rainbow cafe in my head gosh haha). On the way there there was the yummy cakes on sale – the ones the parent’s association group thingy sell q often (at least in my memory). So we bought one ($8 omg) and settled down at the benches outside the cafe to eat. Couldn’t resist the lure of the chicken mayo sandwich and bought it. Was quite disappointed tho, I remember it being yummier 😦
Went to the hall to walk around shortly after eating and… honestly I don’t remember hahaha. Just walked around a bit. The dunking machine was at the amphi like the last time and we saw Mr Ng there! Like finally after so mega long hahaha. Talked to him a bit but he was busy with his duties as the teacher-in-charge of the dunking machine. Also learnt that he got promoted so his asking price to dunk him was kinda high. A bit boring at the dunking machine (like the last time) so we continued walking around.
Found Rui’s class stall and spent a bit of time there playing their game. Stress relieving eh it was a hit the mole game except with them as the moles LOL. So low-budget but tiring for them. Was quite fun. And being cheapos ST and I even split the game time half half. So expensive the stuff at funfairs T.T
Bought more food from the canteen and we decided to head to the hall (where there is aircon) and hobo with our food while watching people sumo wrestle each other. IT LOOKED SO FREAKING FUN OH GOSH. And it was really mega hilarious to watch also. The players had to put on this fat suit and then… they proceeded to fight each other. LOOKED SO TIRING BUT FUN HAHAHA. The girls who played kinda gave up after awhile and flopped on the floor. But the guys were SO AGGRESSIVE HAHAHA SO FUNNY I LOVED IT. Wanted to play it but… I’d prob die playing w ST. Not becos he fat la. Also it prob would have been a bit awkz. Sigh lost chance to play 😦
Oh we also saw a Don’t Forget the Lyrics booth in a classroom. IT LOOKED SO FUN ALSOOOO. SINGING THE SONGS LIKE A KARAOKE. But then I’m tone deaf (according to my bro) so oh well.
Funtasia ended kinda fast. Prob because it was supposed to end at 4/4.30PM and we only arrived around 2PM. Hung out at the Sanctuary (where there is aircon – are you beginning to see a trend here) with Ben and ST while everyone else was packing up. Also because Rui’s class was taking a class photo at the photobooth there so we had to wait for him. Took some photos w him when he was free yayy
We saw Mr Ng in the amphi so we decided to go over to chat w him because we didn’t rly have a full conversation together. And yknw what. I THINK WE ENDED UP TALKING FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR WOW. He was hilarious omg we talked about so many things. Life after NJ, about his life, PW… I don’t even remember. But it was so easy to talk to him and WE EVEN TOOK A SELCA TOGETHER. HAHAHAHA IT WAS HILARIOUS. This was what happened:
Me: Hi Mr Ng can we take a photo together?
Me: Yay okay thanks! Can you um, ask one of your people -gestures to the choir students around- to help us take?
Him: Don’t you know the in thing is selfie nowadays?! YOU’RE SO OUTDATED
HAHAHAHA OMG I RLY KO-ED AT THAT WOW. So that marked the first selca I’ve ever taken w a teacher. Am so amazed.
Ended up leaving NJ at around 7PM because we were so caught up in catching up (lol punny) with Mr Ng. Was so easy to talk to him and he’s so funny in the sarcastic, deadpan way.
So yup that marks the end of my second Funtasia experience. It was really fun. I’m so happy to see that NJ is getting slightly more vibrant and exciting. Change takes place so slowly and it really requires a good council to start the ball rolling. But the onus isn’t just on the student council. It’s so important that the students themselves are cooperative and believe that NJ isn’t just a ‘mugger’ boring grey school and make their time in school worthwhile. It really seems like this year’s batch is doing a great job – truly quite happy to see it happening 🙂
